Anti-proton weapon???? Scary enough concept if it was large (if I properly remember the basic theory from way back in the dim past)…. let alone if it was something someone could just carry about with impunity.

That, Hikaru, is the whole issue with the idea of a weapon of that type, if it existed… virtually nothing in physics could be used to protect you from it…. but then my study is a decade out of date now… what i was taught could be long out of date. Either way, even if the size of a house, that sort of weapon would be downright fear inspiring…
FTL: If it’s the size of a house, it would be easy to spot from orbit, right? If it’s something someone can carry with them, then that’s MUCH harder to see. In this case, the blast came out of his arm, which means it’s hidden inside — even harder to find without some kind of active scanning technology.
